BIG EASY 72 HOUR FILMMAKING CONTEST
You have all probably heard of the 48 Hour Film or some other quick produced film contest... well this year, the Big Easy Film Festivals, will be conducting a 72 Hour Filmmaking Contest. From FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 6th (9PM) - MONDAY, NOVEMBER 9th (9PM) filmmaking teams from around the city (or state) will be hurrying to finish their films. The Big Easy 72 Hour Filmmaking Contest will provide an opportunity for filmmakers to shine.
There will be some very simple rules:
1. Like other Contests, you will receive a Genre, a line of dialogue, a prop, and a swift kick in the ass to get you start. Films must have a running time of between 4 - 12 minutes (including credits).
2. Entry Fee: the Contest will carry an entry fee of $75.00 for Early Bird Registration, ending JULY 21st. July 22nd - September 2nd the Entry Fee will be $100.00. September 3rd - October 31st the Entry Fee will be $125.00. November 1st - November 6th, the Entry Fee will be $150.00. SO REGISTER EARLY!!!!
3. Each Entry Fee will be for a 2-Person Team. This is not to say that you can't have as many people working with you as possible, but there will only be 2 "official" members of the team.
4. Each film will play at the Big Easy Shorts Festival the following weekend. We will have one (or more) program slots depending on how many teams enter.
5. Each Team will OWN THEIR FILM! Your film is your film, you are not obligated to put us in the credits (although we think that's cool), we do not, in any way, own your film or have any right to determine what you do with your film. IT IS ALL YOURS! Of course if you don't want to screen it at the festival, that is your right, but you do give up the right to all awards.
6. AWARDS: 90% of the entry fee total will be given as awards to the winning films. Most will go to the Audience Award, while some will go to the Judges Award. There will be additional awards given out.
7. Each TEAM will receive 2 FREE Tickets to the program in which their film will be screening.
8. Each Team is responsible for anything that may occur during their film shoot. The Big Easy Shorts Festival, Big Easy International Film Festival, and the Big Easy 72 Hour Filmmaking Contest are not liable for any damages or injuries that happen during the creation of these films. That means DON'T do anything CRAZY that gets you are someone in your cast or crew injured or arrested... NOT WORTH IT! So please be careful while making your films.
9. We will have more information regarding the location of the meeting that will start the contest, in the fall.
10. GET YOUR TEAM TOGETHER AND COME MAKE SOME KICK-ASS SHORT FILMS!!!
